Nigerian Afropop singer Akinmayokun Awodumila, popularly known as May D, has opened up about his financial struggles during his time with Square Records, owned by iconic twin artists P-Square.


In a candid interview on the Honest Bunch podcast with Chude, May D shared that poverty prevented him from opening a bank account throughout his four-year stint with the label.
“For the four years I was with P-Square, I didn’t have a bank account. It’s only when someone has money that he opens an account,” he revealed.
May D, who has recently been in the headlines, also hinted at poor treatment while under Square Records, shedding light on the challenges he faced during his early career.
