Nigerian artist Blackface has publicly shared his emotional turmoil following Kenny Ogungbe’s revelations about the controversial registration of the hit song African Queen.
On the Honest Bunch podcast, Kenny Ogungbe confirmed that African Queen, initially a product of the Plantashun Boiz trio, was registered under 2Baba’s name without Blackface’s consent, omitting him from royalties and credits. Kenny Ogungbe confirmed.
In response, Blackface took to X (formerly Twitter) to express years of frustration, accusing the music industry of sabotaging his career, tarnishing his reputation, and excluding him from opportunities.
He recounted instances of alienation at events, loss of performance opportunities, and media narratives aimed at diminishing his influence.
Blackface hinted at plans to revive the legacy of Plantashun Boiz by recruiting new members, and promising fans fresh music.
In a heartfelt post, he wrote:
“Guys, I am really emotional right now. What in the world took you guys too long to come out and clear the air that you guys falsely registered my song African Queen without my consent and excluded my name to collect all the royalties?”
He continued, “A sabotage agenda against me has affected my career and opportunities for years. But now is the time for justice.”
