Nollywood actress Atinuke Remilekun Kareem, popularly known as Atinuke Kareem, has died after battling breast cancer.
The actress’ death was announced on Tuesday by Owolabi Ajasa, the Ogun State Governor of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).
Ajasa, in a statement shared on Instagram, expressed appreciation to individuals who supported Kareem financially and emotionally during her treatment.
“We sincerely appreciate everyone who contributed financially, offered prayers, encouragement, and support towards the treatment of our dear colleague, ATINUKE REMILEKUN KAREEM.
“Sadly, despite all our efforts and prayers, Atinuke has passed on and answered the final call.
“We cannot question the Almighty God. We can only submit to His will and pray that He grants her eternal rest and gives her family, colleagues, and loved ones the strength to bear this painful lost,” he wrote.
Kareem’s death comes about four months after she appealed to members of the public for financial assistance towards her treatment.
Her plea had attracted support from colleagues, fans and other well-wishers who contributed towards her medical care as she battled the illness.

The actress’ passing has since prompted mourning among members of the Yoruba movie industry, with colleagues and supporters remembering her while extending condolences to her family.
TAMPAN and other members of the entertainment community had previously rallied support for Kareem during her health struggle, but she eventually succumbed to the illness.
