The Lagos State Government has kicked off clearance operations along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway to remove illegal structures and ease traffic congestion.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, shared the update on his X handle on Monday. He revealed that the exercise began at Alakija in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area.
“The operation has since progressed through Iyana Iba and is currently ongoing opposite Lagos State University (LASU), with active enforcement at Alaba Market along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway,” Wahab stated.

He added, “Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Agency @LAGESCOfficial, in collaboration with other enforcement teams of the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, have commenced clearance operations at Alakija.”
The Commissioner noted that the exercise reflects the state government’s ongoing commitment to improve environmental sanitation, restore traffic flow, and enforce urban planning regulations along one of Lagos’ busiest highways.
The latest clearance activities follow similar enforcement actions across the state in late 2025, including operations on Jakande Coastal Road and arrests of beggars along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
