The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has intercepted two consignments of synthetic cannabis, popularly known as Colorado or Colos, imported from the United Kingdom and concealed in consolidated cargoes in Lagos.
NDLEA operatives also recovered two other consignments of the illicit substance hidden inside music speakers at two motor parks in the state, with at least seven suspects arrested in connection with the seizures.
The agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed the arrests and seizures in a statement on Sunday.
According to Babafemi, operatives at the import shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, intercepted a consignment from the UK containing 27 parcels of Colorado weighing 32.20kg.
A real estate agent, Abideen Jide Salami, was subsequently arrested on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, when he arrived to collect a large luggage containing the drugs.
Salami reportedly used a secret collection code sent to him by his brother based in the UK.
In another operation involving a separate UK shipment, NDLEA operatives arrested the intended recipient, 44-year-old Nurudeen Abiodun Kadiri, who was found with 12.25kg of Colorado.
Kadiri reportedly told investigators that his brother in the UK had sent the consignment to him.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation intercepted another shipment at a motor park in Maza Maza, Lagos.
The drugs, consisting of three packs of Colorado, were concealed inside a music speaker and reportedly destined for Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, before being moved to Liberia.
A sting operation carried out at a nearby eatery resulted in the arrest of tour agent Ifeanyi Obed Augustine, 41, and the alleged owner of the consignment, Obasi Ugochukwu, 46.
At Iddo Park, another suspect, Ifeanyi Nwokolo Henry, was arrested on Friday, September 11, while allegedly attempting to dispatch 2.1kg of Colorado to Kano.

The agency also reported drug seizures and arrests in several other states.
In Delta State, separate operations in Ughelli and Asaba led to the recovery of ampoules of pentazocine injection, codeine syrup, tramadol, diazepam, flunitrazepam, also known as Hypnox, and MDMA, popularly called Molly.
Some of the substances were concealed inside music speakers, while Emeka Oji and Chukwuebuka Anedi were arrested.
In Kano State, NDLEA operatives raided an area in Sabon Gari and arrested 20-year-old Saidu Adamu with 785,000 capsules of pregabalin weighing 669.425kg.
The agency also seized 1,700 tablets of diazepam concealed inside loaves of bread during a stop-and-search operation along the Zaria-Kano-Hadejia road. A 28-year-old suspect, Habibu Sabitu, was arrested.
In Plateau State, 51-year-old Chinedu Uzor was arrested at Katako Market in Jos with 157,100 capsules of tramadol.
The agency also destroyed 4,832.56kg of skunk during operations on cannabis farms in Usen Forest, Igwe-Oke Forest and Ogboha Forest in Edo State.
The operations covered Ovia South West, Owan East and Owan West Local Government Areas, with 39-year-old Sunday Segun arrested on Friday, September 11.
In Ondo State, intelligence-led operatives raided a residence along Oke-Iya, Ijoka Road, Akure, on Wednesday, September 9.
They recovered 186kg of skunk concealed in the boot of a Toyota Avalon car with registration number ABJ 917 FV. A 58-year-old suspect, Paul Ogbuwala, was arrested and allegedly intended to transport the consignment to Jos for onward distribution.
Kaduna State also recorded a major seizure, with female suspect Hannah Michael arrested at Gonin Gora with 369.6kg of cannabis.
In Bayelsa State, four suspects were arrested at Ovom, Yenagoa, with 110 bags of cannabis weighing 876kg. They were identified as 70-year-old Godwoman Gboriye, Motombo Silver, 44, Pere Andrew, 39, and Keme Andrew, 43.
Beyond the seizures and arrests, the NDLEA said its commands across the country continued with its War Against Drug Abuse sensitisation campaign in schools, places of worship, workplaces and communities.
The activities included an awareness lecture for students and staff of Mezube Islamiyya Academy in Tudun Wada, Kano, an advocacy visit to the management of Cross River State College of Health Technology in Calabar, and a visit by Rikkos traditional rulers to the NDLEA Academy in Jos.
The agency’s Zone 4 Command also visited the Emir of Keffi, Alhaji Shehu Chindo Yamusa III, in Nasarawa State as part of its WADA advocacy campaign.
Commending personnel involved in the operations, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), urged officers to maintain the agency’s approach to combating drug trafficking and abuse.
Marwa charged them to continue disrupting the supply networks operated by drug cartels at airports, seaports, land borders and cannabis-growing areas across the country.
