First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called on voters in the South-East to support President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on Wednesday in Owerri, the Imo State capital, during her official visit to the region, the First Lady said she was committed to building a better Nigeria that she would also enjoy in her later years.
Mrs Tinubu said she and the President would continue working towards the development of the country, urging residents of the South-East to support his administration at the polls.
“Make una vote for Mr President, we go work for una and Nigeria go better.
“I want to enjoy Nigeria at old age, so I will work for Nigeria, for my old age,” she said.
The First Lady explained that her visit to the region was also aimed at supporting women through an empowerment programme being implemented through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals.
She said the initiative was designed to reach 18,500 women across Nigeria when fully implemented.
According to her, 500 women in each of the five South-East states would benefit from the programme.

The beneficiaries would receive various items to strengthen their businesses, including generators, industrial grinding machines, gas cylinders and ovens.
Mrs Tinubu urged the beneficiaries to make productive use of the items, describing the empowerment initiative as part of efforts to improve the economic wellbeing of women across the country.
