Gospel singer Adeyinka Alaseyori has called on Nigerians to embrace prayer and spiritual intervention instead of directing blame solely at President Bola Tinubu over the country’s worsening security situation.

In a video shared online, the singer maintained that prayer remains effective despite growing skepticism among some citizens who believe it is no longer enough to address the nation’s challenges.

“Prayers are working. Don’t let anybody tell you prayers are not working,” she said.

Alaseyori stressed that every segment of society, including government officials and security agencies, needs divine guidance and support.

“From the president to the last person in this country, we need to pray. Every parastatal, every sector, we all need prayers,” she added.

The singer also cautioned Nigerians against concluding that the country’s leaders are doing nothing to tackle insecurity. According to her, there may be spiritual dimensions to some of the security challenges confronting the nation.

“You can’t say the president or vice president is not working. The security personnel might have gone to rescue them and a charm could have covered their face so they would not see anything. That is the place of prayer,” she said.

Her remarks come at a time when concerns over insecurity continue to dominate public discourse, especially following the abduction of 46 students and staff members from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State in May. Reports also indicated that one of the kidnapped teachers was later killed.

Alaseyori’s position contrasts with the views of some celebrities who have openly criticised the government’s handling of the situation.

Among them is British-Nigerian rapper Skepta, who recently expressed concern over the hardship faced by Nigerians and questioned how much more citizens would be forced to endure.

The musician also appealed to the international community to pay attention to what he described as a deepening injustice in Nigeria, insisting that “the country needs help.”

His comments add to growing calls from entertainers and public figures urging authorities to take stronger and more decisive action against insecurity and other national challenges.
