The first wife of late Yoruba Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has opened up about the pain of losing her husband after more than 30 years of marriage.

Ajoke Taiwo, who revealed that she was once an actress, said she met Ogogo through the movie industry before eventually stepping away from acting to concentrate on caring for their children.

According to her, the decision became necessary because someone had to remain at home to look after the family while Ogogo continued his career in the entertainment industry.

Speaking about their marriage, Ajoke described the late actor as a loving husband and devoted father who remained by her side during difficult moments.

She also said Ogogo played an important role in her life, describing him as both a father and mother figure who could not stand seeing her unhappy.

“I am Ajoke Taiwo, the first wife of Ogogo. He was a very good man, a caring husband and he truly loved me. He was like a father and mother to me. He stood by me during the times of trial. He was my everything.

“What God took from me is so big and it really hurts me but I can’t question Him. This is a wound that can never heal. He never wanted me to get angry at him. Whenever I get extremely angry, he used to land at the hospital because he would be so hurt.”

Ajoke’s emotional tribute comes after Ogogo’s death at the age of 66 following a battle with stage-four cancer.

The actor’s death was announced by his daughter in an emotional video, days after the family disclosed his health condition and sought medical assistance.

Ogogo was one of the respected figures in Yoruba-language cinema, with a career spanning several decades. His remains were later buried in Ilaro, Ogun State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
