The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports that it withdrew its 2027 presidential campaign council list for review.
APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the reports as rumours, insisting that any changes to the list would be officially communicated by the party.
Speaking with TheCable on Tuesday, Morka said there was no basis for the reports that the ruling party had withdrawn the list.
“Rumours are not news. When people are carrying rumours, that is not news. There is fake news, and there is real news,” Morka said.
“Nobody will give any list at the moment. But if there is any reason to update it, it would be announced properly.”
The clarification followed reports on Monday that the APC had withdrawn the campaign council list released on Saturday amid concerns over some of the names included.
The party had unveiled the council with President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima serving as chairman and vice-chairman respectively.
APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, was listed as another vice-chairman, while former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari was appointed Director-General.
Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma, was named secretary of the council.
Other members listed include former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu; former Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund board chairperson, Ngozi Olejeme; Nigeria Revenue Service Executive Chairman, Zacch Adedeji; and Budget Office of the Federation Director-General, Taminu Yakubu.

The composition of the council has generated debate, particularly over the inclusion of serving government officials and individuals who have faced corruption-related allegations.
Edu was suspended by President Tinubu in January 2024 over allegations of financial misconduct, after which the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission investigated the matter. The outcome of the investigation has not been publicly disclosed.
Olejeme, meanwhile, remains the subject of an EFCC investigation over an alleged N1 billion money-laundering offence.
Morka was also asked about complaints from some APC members regarding the omission of certain prominent party figures from the council but said he was not the appropriate person to respond to those concerns.
