Despite the difficulties the nation is now undergoing, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that he will keep his word.
In his message to Muslims on Wednesday to bring in the New Islamic Year, Tinubu urged them to absorb the significant virtues of patience, persistence, and fidelity, which were the defining characteristics of the Prophet Muhammad.
He also exhorted the populace to pray and beg God Almighty to guide and guard Nigeria’s road to greatness and prosperity.
“I enjoin you to remain hopeful that there is light and prosperity at the end of the tunnel as we persevere and struggle to confront our present challenges and the temporary pain we experience,” Tinubu stated.
“Despite the current challenges, my staff and I are doing all in our power to keep the commitments we made.
I beseech you all to participate in prayers and supplications to God Almighty to lead and guard our path to glory and success in Nigeria as we herald in the New Islamic Year.
Tinubu’s message was delivered at a time when Nigerians are lamenting the rise in the price of gasoline, which has driven up the cost of life in the nation.

Tinubu’s message was delivered at a time when Nigerians are lamenting the rise in the price of gasoline, which has driven up the cost of life in the nation.
In an interview, the NLC president, Joe Ajaero, said that Nigerians are being misled about the cost of gasoline.
Ajaero also stated that the general populace is being unfairly penalized while resisting the new gasoline pump pricing.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) is only partially as intelligent as President Bola Tinubu’s government, according to the NLC president.
Why would the government seek a court order and utilize other steps if they had stopped subsidizing petroleum goods and there was an unexpected price hike just before committee meetings were about to begin?
“It appears that a period of unjust punishment of Nigerians and widespread fabrication of facts has begun.
NNPCL cannot import and claim that the product was brought in by marketers, according to Ajaero.
The increase in gasoline pump costs from N540/litr to N617/litr prompted a response from NNPCL, which characterized the situation as “market forces at play.”
After meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL Mele Kyari provided the justification.
Kyari, who talked with State House Correspondents, claims that the issue is not a lack of product availability; rather, the forces of supply and demand in the marketing value chain are simply coming into play.
He said that petroleum product importers were growing more confident in the system and that prices would inevitably fluctuate.
“At this time, I don’t know the specifics. But our business also has a marketing division. According to the reality of the market, they alter pricing, Kyari added.
“This is actually what is taking place; this is the significance of ensuring that the market regulates itself so that prices occasionally increase and occasionally decrease. This is what we have observed, and this is how the market actually operates.
However, Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), advised Nigerians on Tuesday to endure the hardships of the elimination of the gasoline subsidy because he believes the nation will benefit.
While seeking support for the President Tinubu government, Akume asserted that despite their hardships, Nigerians may look forward to a bright future.
When he met with a group from the North Central People’s Forum (NCPF), led by Senator Jeremiah Useni of Sardauna Plateau, he offered the guarantee.
After the detrimental effect that the elimination of oil subsidies had on the cost of living for the ordinary people, Akume predicted that Nigerians’ living standards would significantly improve.
“Nigerians can expect nothing less from this government. Even when the President intends well, things can go awry. Correct us when we make mistakes.
He said that President Tinubu’s courageous actions had a beneficial effect on the economy and demonstrated to foreign and local politicians that the federal government was serious about doing business.
