Korede Fasoyin, the son of veteran gospel musician Deborah Fasoyin, has dismissed rumours circulating online that his mother has died.

The speculation spread across social media after several posts appeared showing the singer’s photograph alongside “RIP” messages, leading many users to begin sharing condolences.

However, speaking on Monday, Korede clarified that the reports are completely untrue, assuring the public that the respected gospel singer is alive and well.

“My mother is alive. The news of her death is fake. We are already doing a video for her to speak,” he said.

According to him, the family started receiving numerous calls from both within and outside Nigeria shortly after the rumour began circulating online.

“I started receiving calls from outside Nigeria and within Nigeria since midnight,, asking if she was dead. I don’t know the mischievous person who posted that without verifying,” he said.

The gospel icon, widely known for her classic Yoruba gospel track Odun n Lo Sopin, recently celebrated her 86th birthday on March 1, 2026.

For decades, Fasoyin has remained a prominent figure in gospel music within the Christ Apostolic Church and among gospel audiences across Nigeria. Her music continues to hold strong influence among generations of church music enthusiasts.
