Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has been bestowed with another chieftaincy title in Lagos, with his wife receiving a complementary honour during the ceremony.
The couple was installed in Lagos, where Seyi Tinubu was given the title of Okanlòmo of Eyọ Ọba Alakẹtẹ Pupa, Laba Ẹkun.
Congratulating them, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the recognition as a testament to their service, character, and commitment to Lagos culture and people.
“I warmly congratulate Barrister Oluwaseyi Tinubu on his installation as the Okanlòmo of Eyọ Ọba Alakẹtẹ Pupa, Laba Ẹkun. This honour reflects service, character, and commitment to our culture and people,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
The governor also wished Seyi Tinubu continued strength and clarity in fulfilling the responsibilities associated with the new role.
The Lagos ceremony comes just five days after Seyi and his wife, Layal Tinubu, received prestigious chieftaincy titles from the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade. On December 21, 2025, the couple was installed as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland and Yeye Okanlomo of Yorubaland, respectively, during a colourful ceremony at the Alaafin’s palace in Oyo town.

The Oyo event drew high-profile guests, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, several ministers, state governors, traditional rulers from across Nigeria and the Republic of Benin, and senior government officials.
The title “Okanlomo of Yorubaland” translates to “the beloved child” or “the one dear to the hearts of all Yoruba people,” symbolising a custodian of Yoruba values, unity, and cultural heritage.
While conferring the title, the Alaafin praised Seyi Tinubu as a young leader dedicated to youth empowerment, social development, and the promotion of Yoruba culture.
In his acceptance speech, Seyi Tinubu expressed gratitude and pledged to continue supporting initiatives that foster youth development, unity, and cultural preservation.
“I accept this title with humility and a deep sense of responsibility to serve our people and promote peace and progress across Yorubaland,” he said.
