President Bola Tinubu arrived in Lagos State on Thursday evening to observe the Good Friday holiday, following a condolence visit to Plateau State over the recent deadly attack in Jos.

Earlier, the President had visited Jos, where he met with victims’ families and community leaders affected by the violence in Angwan Rukuba, which reportedly claimed 29 lives and left several others injured.

His aircraft landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at night, where he was welcomed with cultural performances and traditional drumming. According to video footage shared by NTA, he was received by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu alongside other top officials and dignitaries.

During his visit to Jos, Tinubu engaged directly with bereaved families and stakeholders, while also issuing directives to security agencies. He ordered the deployment of 5,000 surveillance cameras and instructed authorities to track down those responsible for the killings.

While in Lagos, the President is expected to commission several infrastructure projects executed by the Sanwo-Olu administration as part of Easter activities.

A statement from his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, revealed that Tinubu will proceed to Ogun State on Saturday, April 4, to inaugurate the Gateway International Cargo Airport and commission two commercial aircraft for cargo operations.

He is also expected to unveil the new headquarters of the Federal Operations Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service.

Afterward, the President will return to Lagos to continue his Easter break before travelling to Bayelsa State on April 10, where he will commission additional projects completed by Governor Douye Diri, before heading back to Abuja.
