The Joint Military Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP), has apprehended a suspected gunrunner and seized a cache of weapons in Plateau State.
The suspect, identified as Ishaya Musa, was arrested at the Jebbu Bassa Bypass checkpoint in Bassa Local Government Area on November 14, 2025, the Spokesman for the task force, Major Samson Zhakom, confirmed on Saturday.
According to Zhakom, the troops recovered several firearms and related items from Musa, including six fabricated single-barrel rifles, two fabricated revolver rifles, one Dane gun, an expended cartridge, and other sundry objects.
The military explained that the arrest was part of ongoing operations to curb illegal arms trafficking and strengthen national security. “The suspect and recovered items are in custody for further action,” the statement said.

In a separate operation, the task force raided a suspected gunrunner’s hideout at Fashoron Village in Daffo District, Bokkos Local Government Area, on November 13. Troops recovered additional weapons and ammunition during the operation carried out by Sector 2 (Sub-Sector 2) of JTF OPEP.
Plateau State has faced persistent security challenges over the years, prompting intensified efforts from authorities to restore order. The arrest of Ishaya Musa is the latest in a series of security operations by the task force, which has apprehended multiple individuals suspected of involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping, and other criminal activities.
