Nollywood actress Faithia Balogun’s former husband, Saidi Balogun, has described actress Iyabo Ojo as a very ‘loyal and helpful’ sister who has been of tremendous assistance to him since they met in the movie industry.
This, he revealed, last weekend when Iyabo Ojo hosted him at her Lounge in Lekki Lagos. This party, which had some of Nollywood actors in attendance, held despite the ongoing fracas between Faithia and Iyabo Ojo.
Iyabo Ojo, last Wednesday, February 5 had called out Faithia Balogun. It was Faithia’s birthday and Iyabo, who was once a good friend of Faithia had posted on Instagram that the 51-year-old actress was a witch!
“There is nothing I have done that Iyabo would not be in attendance,” an excited Saidi stated in Yoruba in a video shared on Iyabo Ojo’s page.
“Some people have speculated that I would not attend this get-together but here I am. I knew I would come. I had already gone for a private dinner held in my honour by a brand I represent and I said I must come to Iyabo Ojo’s Lounge.
“She is a good girl. She has a good heart and I am proud of her and her achievements. Iyabo Ojo has done many good things for me that I cannot remember. I recall telling her to produce an English movie and she urged me to go ahead and said, ‘Brother, you do yours first,.’ That was when I did my movie, “Eti Keta.”
For those who thought I wouldn’t attend the special party she organized for me tonight, shame on them. I am here and I pray Iyabo grows in leaps and bound,” Saidi said.
On the spat between Faithia and Iyabo which went viral on social media last week, Saidi, whose crashed union with Faithia produced two children, humourously prayed that peace should reign.
Though he didn’t mention Faithia’s name, Saidi said, “Iyabo, I am proud of you. You have a good soul. I pray you settle the rift between you and the person you are quarreling with. God will settle it and put the devil to shame. When its settled, you will put all your enemies to shame.”
The friendship between Faithia and Iyabo suffered a strain after their trip to Turkey where some fans of the actresses organised birthday parties for Faithia.
Also accusing Faithia of wishing her death in 2018 when she took ill in Istanbul, Turkey, Iyabo Ojo who had a corrective cosmetic surgery that year in Turkey, also cited Faithia as a betrayer and a fair-weather friend, who befriends young people in the movie industry for material gains.
Saidi Balogun, whose birthday also falls on February 5 just like his former wife had ignored her and didn’t post any birthday message to her. Faithia also shunned any birthday greetings in honour of her former husband.
The couple got married 20 years ago at an Ikorodu registry and divorced four years later.
The divorce was quite messy and Saidi, who told the court that he could not live under the same roof with his estranged wife due to irreconcilable differences, also demanded among other requests that Faithia dropped his name, Balogun.
Though he had tried remarrying after Faithia left, he has not taken any woman down the aisle as the new Mrs. Balogun.
Meanwhile, Faithia, on Sunday, flashed an engagement ring given her by a mystery partner that she is yet to unveil.
