The Kwara State Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnapped victim, Haruna Ahamadu, from a criminal hideout in the Omu-Aran forest, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, disclosed this in a statement obtained in Ilorin on Thursday, saying the operation was the result of credible intelligence and a coordinated effort between police operatives and local vigilante groups.
According to her, two suspects — identified as Ayisa Ibrahim (female) and Yakubu Hassan (male) — have been arrested in connection with the abduction, while security agents are pursuing other fleeing members of the gang.
“The Kwara State Police Command has recorded yet another operational success in its sustained onslaught against criminal elements in the state,” the statement read.
“Acting on credible intelligence, a combined team of police operatives and vigilante group rescued one Haruna Ahamadu unhurt from a kidnappers’ den in the Omu-Aran forest. Two suspects, Ayisa Ibrahim (female) and Yakubu Hassan (male), are currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.”
Ejire-Adeyemi quoted the Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, as commending the officers for their professionalism and commitment during the operation.

“The Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their dedication and assured members of the public that the Command remains fully committed to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of all residents,” she stated.
She added that the CP also appreciated the support and leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, noting that his policing vision continues to strengthen operational efficiency and proactive crime-fighting measures nationwide.
The spokesperson urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely information to law enforcement agencies, stressing that “there would be no hiding place for kidnappers and bandits in any part of the state.”
This latest breakthrough adds to a series of recent successes recorded by security agencies in Kwara amid growing concerns about rising incidents of abduction in some areas.
Just two days earlier, the Nigerian Army handed over 23 rescued kidnap victims from the Kwara-Kogi border forests to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq following coordinated military raids on criminal enclaves in the region.
