President Bola Tinubu on Thursday visited Plateau State, where he met with victims of the recent attack in Jos and offered condolences to a grieving mother who lost her son in the violence.

During the visit, Tinubu directly addressed the woman, referencing a viral video that showed her holding the lifeless body of her son, identified as Ayuba, following the attack in the Angwan Rukuba area.

“I know the pain; I saw how, in the video, you held on to your son, Ayuba, and the pain and agony in your heart, but it’s only God who can give you joy and comfort,” he said.

The President acknowledged the devastating loss, stressing that no financial compensation could truly replace the lives lost.

“No amount of money can pay all of you back. ‘As a government, we will do our best to comfort you,” he added.

Tinubu had earlier arrived in Jos for a condolence visit following the deadly attack last Sunday in Angwan Rukuba, which claimed at least 27 lives.

He was received at the airport by top political figures, including the All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, and Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, alongside other officials.

The President had on Monday condemned the killings as well as a separate attack in Kahir village in Kagarko, Kaduna State, where wedding guests were reportedly killed and abducted.

Speaking through his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the incidents as “barbaric and cowardly,” and vowed that those responsible would be brought to justice.

He also cautioned against linking the attacks to religion, warning that such narratives could worsen tensions across affected communities.
