The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested three suspected drug dealers and seized more than 23,000 illegal substances during coordinated operations across different parts of the state.
Confirming the development in Dutse on Tuesday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, said the suspects were apprehended in a series of intelligence-led raids conducted by officers from the Garki, Fagam, and Maigatari Divisions on October 18, 2025.
The suspects were identified as 60-year-old Muhammad Garba from Mekiya village in Kano State, 55-year-old Musa Garba, and Hudu Ma’ilu from Guneri village in Niger Republic. The police revealed that the trio had been on their watchlist for some time due to their involvement in the sale and distribution of illicit drugs within Jigawa and neighboring states.
During the operation, officers recovered a total of 23,944 assorted illegal drugs. The seized substances included 13,505 units of Exol, 1,583 units of D5, 3,572 tablets of Tramadol, 565 capsules of Diazepam, and 2,469 bottles of Rubber Solution. The police also confiscated several blocks and 886 wraps of cannabis, as well as other narcotics such as Sock and Die, Akurkura, and 340 units of Farin Malam.
SP Adam said the recovered substances posed a major risk to public safety and community well-being.
“The large quantity of drugs poses a significant threat to the youth and communities in the state,” he said.
He confirmed that the suspects are currently in police custody, undergoing detailed investigation.

“The suspects are in police custody, undergoing thorough investigations, and will be charged to court after preliminary inquiries,” he stated.
The police command reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse across the state, emphasizing that operations against such criminal networks will continue.
Adam also urged residents to support security agencies by providing credible information to help identify and apprehend drug dealers and other criminal elements.
“The command is appealing to members of the public to continue supporting law enforcement by giving credible information that will assist in the arrest of criminals,” he added.
He further quoted the state Commissioner of Police, Dahiru Muhammed, as commending the officers involved for their professionalism and courage during the raids.
“The Commissioner of Police praised the officers for their dedication and bravery throughout the operation,” Adam said.
Reiterating the command’s zero-tolerance stance on drug-related crimes, Muhammed urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
The Jigawa State Police Command assured the public that it remains fully committed to safeguarding lives, dismantling criminal networks, and ensuring a drug-free society throughout the state.
