Tragedy struck in Osogbo, Osun State, as Osun Pastor Bishop Shina Olaribigbe of Rapture Empowerment International Church was fatally stabbed in the early hours of Thursday while attempting to mediate a marital dispute.
The incident reportedly occurred at the home of the estranged wife, who serves as an interpreter in the Osun Pastor’s church.
Sources revealed that the woman had been ill, and the Osun Pastor had visited her residence.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman’s estranged husband arrived unexpectedly, discovered the pastor in the room, and, overcome with rage, allegedly stabbed him multiple times in the chest, leading to his immediate death.
CSP Yemisi Opalola, spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, confirmed the tragic incident. The couple is not officially separated, but they do not live together.
The Osun Pastor had a history of intervening in their disputes. We learned that the husband acted on suspicion that the pastor was involved in an inappropriate relationship with his wife.”
Both the husband and wife have been arrested and are in custody at the Dugbe Police Division, while the remains of the clergyman have been deposited at the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital morgue.
