Mudashiru Obasa has officially returned as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly following the resignation of Mojisola Meranda.
Obasa was reinstated during Monday’s plenary session, months after his impeachment in January over allegations of poor leadership, high-handedness, and financial misappropriation.
His return follows a reconciliation effort led by top All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders, including former governors Bisi Akande, Segun Osoba, and Akinwunmi Ambode, at the directive of President Bola Tinubu.
Meranda, who briefly served as Speaker, stepped down along with other principal officers to align with the party’s decision.
Addressing lawmakers after his reinstatement, Obasa expressed gratitude and called for unity within the House.
