The Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojeed Fatai, and the Chief Whip, Sanni Okanlawon, have resigned from their positions amid ongoing political shifts in the Assembly.

Meanwhile, Speaker Mojisola Meranda is expected to resign soon following directives from the All Progressives Congress (APC). Lawmakers have praised her for her 49 days of leadership, highlighting her commitment to party loyalty.
During a plenary session, legislators expressed mixed emotions, with Temitope Adewale stating, “The entire chamber is in tears. You have restored friendship, comradeship, and loyalty in this House.” Others reaffirmed their allegiance to the APC, acknowledging that the party’s decisions remain supreme.
As other principal officers reportedly prepare to step down, the Lagos Assembly faces a major restructuring, with more developments expected in the coming days.
