Widower reveals premonitions of late wife’s death
How she had an attack like that in 2023 but survived it–Dare Melody
For gospel artiste, Dare Odunuga aka Dare Melody, this is a bitter pill to swallow.
He lost the wife of his youth, Adedoyin on October 24, 2024.
Dare and Adedoyin legally tied the knots at Ikoyi Registry in 2017 after living together for 16 years and the union is blessed with three daughters.
Though the cause of death was not revealed when Dare Melody’s management announced the death, Kemiashefonlovehaven exclusively gathered from words spoken by family members, friends and even the widower at the service of songs/wake keep on November 7, 2024 that she must have suffered from a cardiac arrest.
Narrating at the wake-keep on how he lost Adedoyin, Dare recalled she had a similar attack in 2023.
“Then, she started vomiting. That was around 3am. We had eaten together at night so I asked what happened? We were in bed and I was naked. Immediately, I called on those around in the house because she passed out.
But I took her to the hospital and she was revived. Afterwards, she even told me she thought she would die then and I told her that God hasn’t told us that we would die young.
She was a truthful woman and I was also truthful to her. I told her that whatever she heard about me because of my music career, she should confirm from me. I made her know that to err is human, to forgive is divine.
On the day she died, we went to pray on a mountain. But before we left for that mountain, in our home, I saw a vision of light. The light would come on and then go off again. I instructed them at home to turn off all the lights— I didn’t know it was a premonition from heaven.
But that fateful day, before we got to the mountain, we had stopped over at my house in Ijebu where she left her bag. I didn’t know she was preparing to die.
On the mountain, we were dancing and rejoicing after prayers. On the mountain, the lights would go off and come on again. Suddenly, Adedoyin told me that she was going to the restroom. It was a few minutes later that someone came to tell me that my wife needed my attention. I was surprised because she had gone to the restroom. By the time I got there, she was saying, ‘call the doctor, it’s from my chest to my chest.’ ‘I was asking what happened Adedoyin?’
Immediately, as a Christian, I took water, prayed into it and gave her to drink. It’s still like a dream that she is dead. I see it as if she travelled and would still return home. I love her and her chikdren. If there is another world, I would still marry Adedoyin.
One of his band boys, Olaiya, narrated what happened thereafter. “Mummy Eni was like a mother, sister and wife to all of us. No matter how late we returned from any show, she would cook for us, serve all of us and even wash the plates all by herself.
On the day of her death, we tried our best. Her husband drove like a mad man. We took her to four different hospitals before we could get one where she was taken in.”
Late Adedoyin Odunuga was buried on November 8, 2024.
