Not a few family members and friends were shocked when gospel singer Dare Melody announced the death of his wife Adedoyin Odunuga on Thursday morning.
A post on Dare’s Instagram handle indicated the 46-year-old mum of three kicked the bucket on Thursday morning.
He wrote, “It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the transition to eternal rest of our beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend (Mrs. Adedoyin Odunuga, nee Odagi), who passed away early this morning today 24th of October 2024.RIP. You will forever be in our hearts.”
Though the cause of her death was not immediately clear, a shocked gospel artiste, Esther Igbekele disclosed that the deceased was hale and hearty 10 days ago when Dare Melody had his birthday.
She wrote on Instagram, “This is a very rude shock for me. We were together 10days ago at your husband @officialdaremelody birthday thanksgiving party. I never knew that will be the last day I will see you. Wow! I’m saddened with the news of your demise. May your soul rest in peace and May God grant your family the fortitude to bear this great loss.”
Dare Melody and Adedoyin tied the knot in 2017 at Ikoyi Registry after being together for 16 years.
Their traditional wedding ceremony was attended by many of Dare’s contemporaries in gospel music.
In 2023, the gospel artiste gave his wife a house in celebration of her 45th birthday.
The union produced three children.
Meanwhile, tributes and condolences have since poured in from the gospel music community and fans alike.
Boye Best, a gospel artiste, wrote, “Accept my heartfelt condolences baba. God will grant u fortitude to bear this loss. It’s well in Jesus Name.”
Popular Fuji female artiste, Ayo Balogun added, “Omg. Pls accept my condolences. May her soul rest in peace.”
St Janet, a musician also commented, “Haaaa!!!! Olorun ooooo 😳😳 accept my condolences.”
DareJustified, a gospel act, wrote “This is really sad. Please accept my heartfelt condolences Boss. May the Lord grant you and the entire family the fortitude to bear the loss. It is well Sir. We are praying for you Sir.”
