Renowned Nigerian disk jockey, DJ Jimmy Jatt, has shared his harrowing health struggles, revealing how he lost his sight in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown and later battled chronic kidney disease. Speaking on Rubbin’ Minds, the DJ detailed his journey through multiple health challenges and recovery.


Health Struggles Amid the Pandemic
Jimmy Jatt recounted how he began experiencing health issues during the lockdown, which eventually led to the loss of his sight. Fortunately, he underwent successful eye surgery to restore his vision. However, shortly after, he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, necessitating dialysis and ultimately a kidney transplant in 2022.
The celebrated DJ admitted that his lifestyle changes in 2019 might have contributed to his health struggles. “I decided to spend more time outside Nigeria. I wanted to explore Europe, America, and other parts of the world after living all my life in Lagos,” he said.


Relocation and Kidney Transplant
After his eye surgery, DJ Jimmy Jatt relocated to the United States to focus on his health. While abroad, he began dialysis treatments and eventually returned to Nigeria for a kidney transplant. Following the procedure, he took time off to recover fully before resuming his career.
Despite his health challenges, DJ Jimmy Jatt continued DJing across America and Europe. His resilience and determination to return to his roots brought him back to Nigeria in December 2024.
