A Federal High Court in Lagos, led by Justice Alexander Owoeye has dismissed a fundamental rights suit filed by crossdresser Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, popularly known as Bobrisky, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the National Assembly.

Bobrisky had sought N200 million in damages from the EFCC for “psychotic trauma” and demanded N1 billion from the National Assembly for the alleged violation of his right to a fair hearing.

He also sought a court order to prevent the EFCC and the National Assembly from “harassing, detaining, or declaring him wanted.”

However on November 28, Justice Owoeye ruled that Bobrisky’s claims were unsubstantiated and lacked credible evidence.

The judge emphasised that the applicant failed to provide sufficient proof to support his allegations of rights violations.

In a statement released on Friday, EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale confirmed the ruling, stating, “The Applicant’s claims against the EFCC and National Assembly were found to lack merit, and are hereby dismissed. No damages were awarded.”

Bobrisky has been at the center of controversy after social media influencer Martins Otse leaked an audio recording in which the crossdresser allegedly claimed to have bribed the EFCC with N15m to have money laundering charges dropped.

He denied the recording’s authenticity and threatened legal action against Otse.

Despite the denial, he was invited by the EFCC but failed to attend.

On November 1, the EFCC intercepted him at Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport, removing him from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight.
