Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo has publicly expressed her displeasure with certain practices within the movie industry, calling out colleagues she described as unsupportive and driven by envy.
Taking to her Instagram page, the actress addressed two groups of people in Nollywood. She first criticised actors who appear in films but become unavailable or uncooperative when it is time to promote the projects, describing such behaviour as wicked and unfair to producers who invested in the movies.
Biodun also faulted some colleagues who, according to her, are unnecessarily stingy with support. She noted that she has consistently promoted several films she did not even feature in, stressing that genuine support should not come with conditions.
The actress lamented that hatred, jealousy and ill feelings have prevented some industry players from celebrating or supporting the success of others, adding that many now see another person’s progress as a threat rather than motivation.

“I want to address two categories of people in my industry.
“First, actors who feature in movies make it difficult to support the producer when it is time for promotion. You, people, are not God.
All you are showing is how wicked and unsupportive you can be.
“Second, some colleagues are extremely stingy with support for my full chest.
I can confidently say I have promoted many movies I didn’t even feature in.
I did it willingly because support costs nothing.
“But some of you are so full of hate, envy, and Iwa Oshi that supporting others feels like a burden to you.
You see another person’s progress as a threat instead of inspiration”.
Biodun, however, appreciated colleagues who consistently show up to support others, whether invited or not, encouraging unity and mutual growth within the industry.
“To the ones who show up when asked, and those who showed up without even being asked and genuinely supported, God bless you. The sky is big enough for all of us to fly. Stop the hate. Mtcheew!!!”.
