Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has said his close association with younger people plays a major role in keeping him energetic and connected to current trends.
The 65-year-old actor made this known during an interview on At His Right Hand, where he explained that working alongside younger people exposes him to fresh ideas and helps him maintain a youthful outlook.
Although he admitted that disagreements and arguments sometimes arise between him and his younger colleagues, RMD said he still gains valuable lessons from their interactions.
He also linked his ability to relate comfortably with younger people to becoming a father early in life. According to him, spending time with his children and younger colleagues has influenced his choice of words, communication style and fashion sense.
“Interacting with young people helps me retain my youthful energy. I think my oldest staff member is 28 or 27. I like to work with younger people. We fight, disagree and abuse each other, but even in their foolishness, I learn a lot of things. I also had kids early in my life, so I’m constantly talking to them as though we’re agemates. It affects how I speak and dress,” he said.
The actor further explained that he does not allow his age to determine what he can or cannot do, noting that his focus remains on pursuing his goals rather than paying attention to physical limitations.

“And I don’t let the old man in. I don’t wake up saying I’m 65; I wake up just wanting to do things. I’m in a state of being myself, and I just wake up to do what I have to do without considering whether my body is cooperating or not, because if my head is strong enough, then my body has no choice.”
RMD, who became prominent in the Nigerian entertainment industry in the late 1980s, has continued to attract attention for his fashion choices and energetic screen presence. His stylish appearances have also contributed to his reputation for maintaining a youthful and elegant image over the years.
