The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Kaduna State University (KASU) has declared an indefinite strike starting February 11, citing unresolved welfare issues with the Kaduna State Government.

In a notice signed by Chairman Peter Adamu and Secretary Peter Waziri, the union stated that it had sought approval from ASUU’s national body for the industrial action.
According to the letter obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the lecturers’ grievances include:
- Unpaid salaries for five months (May–September 2022)
- 60% of September 2017 salaries still outstanding
- Unpaid Earned Academic Allowances (2015–2020)
- Unremitted pension contributions (2009–2019)
- Unpaid promotion arrears (2019–2023)
- Unresolved Group Life Insurance for deceased staff since 2020
The union recalled a meeting with Governor Uba Sani on August 17, 2024, where he assured lecturers of payment, but no action was taken despite several follow-ups.
With no response to their final reminder on January 17, 2025, ASUU-KASU has resolved to proceed with the strike, which will remain indefinite until all demands are met.
