Arsenal moved to within six points of Premier League leaders Liverpool with a resilient 3-1 victory against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Wednesday.

Despite falling behind to Bryan Mbeumo’s early strike, the Gunners mounted a spirited comeback on a rain-soaked evening in west London.

Gabriel Jesus of Arsenal continued his red-hot form, netting his sixth goal in four games to equalize before halftime.

Second-half goals from Mikel Merino and Gabriel Martinelli sealed Arsenal’s fourth consecutive win, lifting them into second place above Nottingham Forest.

Mikel Arteta’s side, unbeaten in their last 12 matches across all competitions, showcased their title credentials, even in the absence of key players like Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz.

Teenager Ethan Nwaneri impressed on his first Premier League start, contributing to the gunners third goal with a smart cutback that led to Martinelli’s clinical finish.

The result solidifies Arsenal’s dominance in London derbies and provides a boost to their title hopes, as they keep the pressure on Liverpool, who still hold a game in hand.
