Nollywood faith-based movie, Agbara Nla: The Return, has recorded more than N170.6m at the box office within four days of its cinema release, according to film distributor, Nile Group.
The distributor announced the feat on Monday, celebrating the strong audience turnout and performance of the movie across cinemas nationwide.
“The revival is here. The power is moving. Agbara Nla: The Return opened with N170.6m+. It can only be God,” Nile Group said.
The distributor also expressed appreciation to moviegoers for filling cinemas and contributing to the film’s impressive opening.
“Thank you, everyone, for the packed cinemas, SOLD-OUT shows and incredible love,” it added.
Beyond its financial performance, Nile Group said the movie was intended to give audiences an opportunity to experience what it described as “a revival of faith, power and transformation on the big screen.”
According to the distributor, the film has achieved three major opening-weekend milestones.
It was announced as the biggest non-December Nollywood opening weekend, the biggest October opening weekend and the biggest opening weekend recorded by a faith-based film.
Agbara Nla: The Return is currently showing in cinemas across the country.
The movie had already generated significant attention before its official release, recording about N71m from preview screenings.
According to Nigerian Box Office (@NGAboxoffice), a Nigerian box-office analysis and consultancy platform, the film grossed N70m from 12,134 admissions during its preview period between September 25 and October 1.
The platform reported that the figure represented the biggest single-day preview gross recorded in West Africa.
The 12,134 admissions also reportedly set a 2026 record for the highest first-day admissions, while the N70m revenue was described as the biggest first-day gross by a Nollywood film.
The film also reportedly achieved the highest single-day October gross during the period.
Its strong opening came amid competition from other titles playing in cinemas. Black Market was among the films screening during the weekend, while Star Lomo and Avengers: Endgame – Encore continued their theatrical runs. Spider-Man: Brand New Day was also part of the cinema lineup.

Despite the competition, Agbara Nla: The Return’s N170.6m opening placed it behind only Everybody Loves Jenifa and Behind the Scene among the biggest Nollywood opening weekends in the comparison provided by the distributor.
The film ranked ahead of A Tribe Called Judah and Love and New Notes on the same list.
The latest box-office result further strengthens Agbara Nla: The Return’s early performance, following its reported N70m preview gross from 12,134 admissions before its official cinema debut.
