The 18th edition of The Headies will now take place on April 10 and 11, 2027, in Toronto, Canada, following a change to the event’s original schedule.
The organisers announced the new dates on the awards’ official Instagram page, explaining that the decision would provide room for an expanded programme across Nigeria and Canada before the main ceremony.
The awards show was initially expected to hold this year, but the revised plan will see activities leading up to the Toronto finale continue in both countries.
“The road to the 18th Headies continues. We’re expanding the programme in Nigeria and Canada ahead of our Toronto finale, now scheduled for April 10 and 11, 2027,” the statement read.
The organisers said the Road to The Headies activities would still take place during the period originally earmarked for the ceremony. However, they did not provide further details about the schedule or the activities planned for the build-up to the event.
They promised to release additional information, including programme updates and details for guests, through their official communication channels.
The change of date also drew an apology from the organisers to attendees who had already made travel arrangements and other preparations for the ceremony.
“To guests who have already made travel plans and other arrangements, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and continued support. Further programme updates and guest information will be shared here,” the statement added.
