Nollywood actress Toyosi Adesanya has recounted the challenges she faced while trying to become a mother, revealing that she underwent five surgeries in 2022 before her doctor advised her to stop.
The actress shared her experience during an interview with Oyinmomo TV, where she also spoke about the support she received from fellow actress Iyabo Ojo during her fertility struggles and a difficult period in her previous marriage.
Adesanya, who welcomed a baby girl with her husband in March, described Ojo as someone who stood by her when she needed help, explaining that their relationship went beyond the entertainment industry.
According to her, Ojo supported her during her efforts to conceive and also intervened when she encountered problems in her former marriage.
Recalling the incident, Adesanya said Ojo travelled to Akure to confront people she believed were making life difficult for her. She also narrated how the actress contacted her former husband on Valentine’s Day in 2014.
Defending her decision to stand by Ojo, Adesanya said she could not forget the support she received during her most difficult moments.
“Iyabo who stood by me when I was trying to conceive, Iyabo who came to Akure to fight for me in my previous marriage. On the 14th of February 2014, on Valentine’s Day, Iyabo called my ex-husband. He called the people who were making my life difficult in Akure. She asked if they wanted to kill me. So why wouldn’t I do my responsibility when her grandson is celebrating his birthday? I am not one of the people bloggers would use their sad story to feed”.
The actress’s comments also offered a glimpse into the medical challenges she endured before becoming a mother.

She disclosed that she underwent several operations within a year as part of her journey to conceive, adding that the frequency of the procedures eventually prompted her doctor to caution her against continuing.
“In 2022, I did five surgeries. I did so many surgeries my doctor told me Enough of this.”
Adesanya’s account highlighted both the difficulties she experienced while trying to conceive and the personal relationships she said helped her through that period.
Her remarks also explained why she continues to support Ojo, despite public discussions surrounding the actress and her family, stressing the importance of remembering those who stood by her during challenging times.
