Nkechi Blessing has said she does not envy married people, insisting that societal expectations around marriage are often exaggerated.

The Nollywood actress made this known in a series of Instagram posts on Wednesday, where she reflected on personal growth and encouraged her followers to prioritise self-development and emotional well-being.

According to her, moving away from people, situations, or environments that no longer support one’s progress is sometimes necessary for growth.

“Growth sometimes looks like walking away. Walking away from people, places, habits, and situations that no longer align with the person you’re becoming,” she said.

She explained that such decisions should not come from bitterness or anger but from self-respect and the need to protect one’s peace.

“Not out of anger, bitterness, or pride but out of self-respect. Some chapters are meant to end so new ones can begin. I’ve learned that protecting your peace is not selfish, and letting go is often the bravest form of self-love.

“If it no longer serves your purpose, your happiness, or your growth, it’s okay to leave it behind. The right things won’t require you to abandon yourself to keep them,” she added.

In another post, Blessing dismissed the idea that marriage guarantees stability or fulfilment, suggesting that many unions she once admired have since broken down.

“You think I envy married people? God forbid. 80% of the ones I once admired are now back on the streets. Who marriage help, abeg?” she wrote.

Opeyemi Falegan was previously married to the actress, but their union ended in 2022.
