Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has reacted to growing online criticism directed at entertainers over their silence or responses to the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
In a strongly worded post on her social media page, the actress addressed what she described as constant bullying of creatives whenever they express opinions or fail to react to national tragedies in the expected manner.
Amusa said members of the entertainment industry are often unfairly targeted, noting that they face pressure to suspend their work and continuously comment on sensitive national issues.
She wrote, “I woke up today with a very heart…The bullying many of you subject our colleagues to in the creative industry is crazy… They freely can’t share their opinion, they can’t post their jobs without being called insensitive..”
The actress also highlighted the financial challenges involved in filmmaking, stating that many producers take loans at high interest rates to fund their projects, yet are still expected to constantly engage in activism online.
“We go to bank to take loans to shoot movies with high interest rate, but you want us to suspend our jobs and be posting videos of kidnapping and cursing the government daily while you’re in your own office tweeting and enjoying your environment,” she added.
Amusa further stated that she has chosen not to be swayed by online trolls, insisting that she will continue to focus on her work and ignore mob pressure.

“The day i decided to start using this app actively, I’ve made up my mind that many of you trolls don’t matter..I won’t pander to mobs as I didn’t build my brand on it,” she said.
She also cautioned critics against leaving abusive comments on her page, warning that she would not tolerate disrespect.
“I have other strings of income, don’t come under my post to act silly, I’ll send you home…” she wrote.
Despite her remarks, the actress expressed sympathy for the victims of the Oyo State abduction, praying for the safe return of the kidnapped pupils and teachers.
