Stephen Ogundipe, spokesperson of the Lagos State House of Assembly and chairman of its Committee on Information, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest for a second term representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I in the 2027 elections.

Ogundipe emerged winner after polling 11,939 votes out of 15,030 votes cast, according to the result sheet sighted on Thursday.

He defeated former Education Secretary, Mayowa Alakija, who secured 3,086 votes in the primary election.

The collation officer, AbdulRasaq Omolaja, officially declared Ogundipe as the party’s flag bearer after results from all five wards were tallied.

The exercise was held at the Legislative Hall and was described by party leaders as peaceful, with party officials, stakeholders and supporters in attendance.

After the announcement, supporters of the lawmaker celebrated his victory, describing it as a reflection of his grassroots support base and performance in office.

Party leaders also used the occasion to call for unity, urging all aspirants and their supporters to come together ahead of the general elections.

In his acceptance speech, Ogundipe appreciated party leaders, delegates, youth groups and women associations for their support during the process.

He also acknowledged his opponent and other aspirants, noting that their participation helped strengthen internal democracy within the party.

“Now that the primary election is over, this is the time for unity, reconciliation, and consolidation as we prepare for the general election ahead,” he said.

Ogundipe stressed the importance of collective success over personal ambition, urging APC members in Oshodi-Isolo to rally behind the party’s candidate and leadership.

He commended Alakija for what he described as a well-conducted and competitive contest, saying it reflected political maturity within the party.

The lawmaker also reaffirmed his commitment to continued service, promising inclusive representation and further development for constituents if re-elected.
