Wife of Nigeria’s president Aisha Buhari has congratulated Morocco for qualifying for the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The Atlas Lions recorded a shock 1-0 win over Portugal on Saturday to become the first African team ever to reach the World Cup semi-finals.

Reacting to the historic victory, Mrs. Buhari posted a video of Moroccans celebrating on Instagram on Sunday morning with the caption “Congratulations to the Morocco team. The only African team standing.”

Morocco will clash with defending champions France in the semi-finals at Al Bayt Stadium on Wednesday, December 14.

Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses were one of the six national female teams that took part in the Aisha Buhari Invitational Women’s Tournament in Nigeria in September.

Aisha Buhari, who has deactivated the comment section on her Instagram post, was recently in the news over the arrest and detention of a university student Aminu Adamu who criticised her on Twitter.
