With parents who are from Ondo State, Queen Opeoluwa must have stood her ground when her parents opposed her decision to marry the Ooni of Ife. The parents who are devout Anglican Church members didn’t want her to be a part of the polygamy in the palace.
“She told them that her decision is hers and she was ready to face the consequences. They allowed her and gave her their full blessings. She seems happy with her choice,” sources close to her said.
The 38-year-old queen got married to the Ooni of Ife in September 2022 but returned abroad and wasn’t visible until she started sharing her pre-wedding photos with the Ooni in May 2023.
Recall Queen Mariam was welcomed into the palace in September 2022 amidst pomp. Then, Olori Elizabeth Opeoluwa Ogunwusi nee Akinmuda was also betrothed to the king a few days after in Magodo, Lagos.
