For those crucifying Pastor Tunde Bakare for visiting President Bola Tinubu, he has this to tell them- it was not for any selfish interest or personal gain.
Founder of Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has denied reports that his recent visit to President Bola Tinubu was for personal gain.
The cleric made the clarification while addressing his congregation following backlash over his visit to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
“Some people still think he has gone there to settle himself. In what way have I settled myself before? What they gave me, I returned. What am I looking for?” he asked.
Bakare, who contested in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary in 2023, noted that his conversation with the president was centred on national development and how to move the country forward.
“My personal vision is to see a nation that works in my lifetime,” he said.
He added that he made suggestions to the president but left the final decisions to him.
“It’s not about just reservations. It’s about how the country will go well,” Bakare said.
The clergyman did not reveal details of the meeting but assured that his intentions were in the interest of the country.
Tunde Bakare has been a consistent critic of bad governance and is known for his past alliance with President Tinubu’s predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, under whom he served as running mate in the 2011 general election.
