A heartbreaking tragedy has rocked social media after a pregnant woman in labor lost her life when a hospital refused to treat her due to her inability to pay a ₦500,000 deposit.

The devastating incident was captured in a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), showing the expectant mother inside a car with her husband, struggling to stay conscious.
In the clip, her distressed husband could be heard desperately pleading with her to hold on for the sake of their children.
“Kemi, look at me. Stay strong, and think about your kids. You need to be very strong for me,” he begged, as she weakly fought to respond.
According to reports, the couple had first visited a hospital, but after being denied care due to financial constraints, they were forced to seek another facility. Unfortunately, she did not survive.
The video has since sparked public outrage, with many condemning the hospital’s actions and calling for reforms in the healthcare system.
Social media users flooded the comment section with grief and frustration:
One user, @LightUp_9ja, lamented: “How can hospitals deny emergency treatment because of money? That hospital must be investigated, and justice must prevail.”
Another @enejih7, expressed shock, writing: “What is going on in this country? A pregnant woman? This is heartbreaking!”
As the debate rages on, many are demanding accountability, urging authorities to take action against hospitals that prioritise money over human lives.
