The Bola Tinubu Presidency has announced the disengagement of Fegho John Umunubo, who until now served as Special Assistant to the President on Digital and Creative Economy (Office of the Vice President).

In a statement issued on Monday, September 8, 2025, by the Director of Information & Public Relations at the State House, Abiodun Oladunjoye, the public was notified of the immediate termination of Umunubo’s appointment.

“Stakeholders and constituents of the digital and creative economy, at home and abroad, as well as the general public are hereby notified that FEGHO JOHN UMUNUBO, who hitherto had served as the Special Assistant to the President on Digital and Creative Economy (Office of the Vice President), has been disengaged with immediate effect.”

The statement further clarified that Umunubo no longer has any affiliation with the administration.

“Kindly note that he no longer represents this administration in any capacity.”

It also cautioned stakeholders against engaging with him in the name of President Bola Tinubu’s government.

“Henceforth, anyone who interfaces with him in the name of President Tinubu’s administration does so at his or her own risk.”

The presidency urged all stakeholders and players within the digital and creative economy to take note.

“We urge all stakeholders and constituents of the digital and creative economy to be so guided.”

On September 2, news filtered in that the then Special Assistant to the Office of Vice President, Kashim Shettima on Digital and Creative Economy was reportedly  suspended for breaching a legal contract linked to the much-publicised ₦5billion Creative Fund initiative.

The Presidency did not however give an official reason for his sacking as of the time of this report.
