Friends, families and colleagues of Modupe Dada converged on Wednesday in Lagos as funeral rites for the wife of the founder and president of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) Mike Dada began.

Dada, is also the Managing Director, PRM Africa Marketing and Communications Limited.

His wife, Dupe, nee Baruwa died on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Dutchess International Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos.

Tears flowed as different       speakers ascended the podium at Grace Assembly, Oregun, Lagos, venue of the event, to speak about the deceased.

Head pastor of the church Femi Paul and Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, officiated the funeral programme.

Modupe was described as a peace-loving, respectful and graceful person.

Her elder brother, Leye Jadesimi, described as his, ‘everything’.

He  said, “Modupe was my everything. When I was written off she said, ‘No, I will be somebody.’”

He recalled that when they lost their elder sister, Adetutu, Modupe came to him and said she would step into the deceased’s shoes and she did that.

“Modupe was like an octopus. She held everybody together, extended family, friends, immediate family members,” he added and requested prayers for her immediate family.

“I thought my mummy would be around when I grow up, get married and makes her a grandma. But she is no more now and I really miss her,” the deceased’s daughter also said during the service.

The remains of the deceased will be buried on Thursday, October 24, 2024, after a farewell service at the Grace Assembly.

Born on May 5, 1976, Dupe Dada was Vice President of AFRIMA and an accomplished bank executive.

She is survived by her husband, two children and siblings.
