Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, and his wife, Nonye, have celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary with a solemn Thanksgiving Mass held at their country home in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area.
The ceremony, which took place on Friday, attracted family members, friends, top government officials, clergy, community leaders and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the couple’s long-standing union.
The Mass was officiated by the Catholic Bishop of the Ekwulọbịa Diocese, His Eminence Peter Cardinal Okpaleke, who offered prayers of thanksgiving and blessings for the governor and his wife. In his homily, the Cardinal urged Christians to depend on God in all circumstances and encouraged young couples to draw lessons from the Soludos’ marriage.
Speaking at the event, Governor Soludo expressed appreciation for the unwavering support he has received over the years, especially from his wife and the people around him. He reflected on their marital journey, stressing that patience, mutual understanding and shared values remain vital to sustaining a peaceful and enduring home.
The governor later shared a heartfelt message on his Facebook page, celebrating his wife and their years together.

“Today marks a special day in our home. Thirty-three years ago, I had the privilege of marrying the love of my life, Nono. You are not just my partner; you are my best friend, my confidante and my everything,” he wrote.
Reflecting on their journey, he added, “As we celebrate this milestone, I am reminded of the countless memories, laughter and tears we’ve shared. Your love and support mean the world to me. Here is to many more years of love, joy and adventure together!
“Happy 33rd wedding anniversary, my darling Nono. I love you more today than yesterday, but less than tomorrow.
“This celebration is not just about our marriage; it’s about the community that has supported us every step of the way. We are truly blessed to have such a strong foundation built on love, faith and service.”
Also speaking, Mrs Soludo, who is the founder of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, described the occasion as a moment of gratitude and renewal. She said the couple used the opportunity to recommit their union to God.
“Today, surrounded by friends, loved ones and our six beautiful children, we knelt before God to renew our marriage vows. In prayers, we have asked Almighty God, who established this holy union 33 years ago, to guide us more strongly into it,” she said.
She added, “It’s been 33 years since I made the best decision of my life – to do life with this my guy. Thirty-three years, and it feels like we just began. I’m blessed to have you as my best friend, confidant and loyal partner. And if there’s a life after this one, I’ll still do this sweet race with you again and again. Happy wedding anniversary to us.”
Earlier, the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Most Rev. Jonas-Benson Okoye, while addressing the congregation, commended the couple for their exemplary marriage, describing it as a reflection of God’s grace and the strength that comes from walking together in faith.
The thanksgiving Mass was attended by the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, and his wife; the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sly Ezeokenwa; members of the State Executive Council; senior government officials; clergy and other dignitaries.
