Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, was absent at the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions hearing on Wednesday. The committee is currently investigating her conduct during last week’s plenary session.

The controversy stems from a heated exchange between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio over a new seat allocation, which led to a dramatic standoff on the Senate floor.

Background of the Dispute

  • Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of publicly humiliating her and obstructing her motions and bills.
  • She refused to accept a new seating arrangement, prompting Akpabio to deny her the opportunity to speak during the session.
  • The matter was subsequently referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions for investigation.

Senator Natasha Absence at the Committee Hearing

At the committee meeting, the Chairman, Senator Neda Imasuen (PDP, Edo South), expressed disappointment over her failure to appear.

“Senator Natasha was duly invited to this meeting. We hope she will join us as we continue.”

As of the time of this report, Akpoti-Uduaghan had yet to arrive for the hearing, leaving uncertainties about the next steps in the probe.

  • Will she honour the committee’s invitation at a later date?
  • 📌 How will this impact her ongoing dispute with the Senate leadership?

More details to follow…
