Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday formally signed the ₦4.4 trillion 2026 budget into law, marking a key milestone in the state’s fiscal planning. The ceremony took place at the Conference Room, Lagos House, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja.

The Lagos State House of Assembly had earlier approved the budget, titled “Budget of Shared Prosperity,” in January. Lawmakers authorised the issuance and appropriation of ₦4,444,509,776,438 for the 2026 fiscal year.

The signing was attended by Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, members of the State Executive Council, the Head of Service Bode Agoro, lawmakers, and other key stakeholders.

When he presented the appropriation bill to the House in November 2025, Sanwo-Olu emphasised that the budget was designed to foster prosperity and create a Lagos that benefits all residents.

“Our mission remains clear: to eradicate poverty and build a Lagos that works for all,” the governor said.

He added, “Our vision continues to guide every fiscal decision we make—to deliver a Greater Lagos where shared prosperity is not an aspiration but a lived and felt reality.”

Sanwo-Olu noted that the 2026 budget is anchored on four key pillars: a human-centred approach, modern infrastructure, a thriving economy, and effective governance, all in alignment with the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda.
