Three people have been killed at separate sites in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, as a result of rekindled animosity between cult organizations.
The shooting event, which happened on Monday afternoon and left the victims dead, happened just 24 hours after Ehis Dada, a middle-aged man, was killed.
According to reports, Dada was shot dead on Sunday by his assailants just as he was leaving the church in the Amagba neighborhood where he had gone for religious services.
According to information obtained, members of the Black Axe and Macphite confraternities were involved in the most recent cult murders.
One of the victims is a man named Schoolboy who is purported to be a Macphite confraternity member. Around Okhun Junction, in the Oluku region, he was shot and killed.
A police officer was reportedly knocked down by Schoolboy’s attackers, who belonged to a rival gang. They then stole the policeman’s AK-47 gun and killed the victim, according to reports.
The suspects were said to have abandoned the car after a tense pursuit by security personnel near the Appico section of Upper Sokponba Road.
The two more victims, whose names and the cult organization they are members of are unknown, were purportedly murdered in various places along the Uselu-Ugbowo axis in Benin City.
It was unable to contact the Police for comment as of the time of filing this report.
