President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as the Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS). This follows the expiration of the tenure of the outgoing CG, Haliru Nababa.
Official Announcement
The appointment, effective December 15, 2024, was announced by Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Board.
In his statement, Ahmed said:
“President Tinubu has graciously approved the appointment of Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service following the expiration of the tenure of Haliru Nababa.”
About Nwakuche Ndidi
- Date of Birth: November 26, 1966
- Origin: Oguta, Imo State
- Previous Role: Deputy Controller-General, Training and Staff Development Directorate
- Credentials: Fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and recipient of the Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) national honour.
Outgoing CG Haliru Nababa
Nababa, appointed in 2021 by former President Muhammadu Buhari, served in several leadership capacities, including overseeing major custodial centers across Nigeria.
His tenure has been marked by reforms aimed at modernizing correctional practices.
