Nigerian music star Davido has commented on the potential outcome of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s, 2026 re-election bid, suggesting that the family would return to their business ventures if he does not secure a second term.

The singer made the remarks in response to a comment on X from a user, @Wewe_of_Lagos, who wrote: “If e lose na Davido go compose song for APC during 2027 campaign.”

Davido replied with a lighthearted but firm message: “Or we can just go back to our multi billion dollar company…”

Governor Adeleke recently declared that he will seek re-election under the Accord Party, a platform he joined on November 6, 2025. The announcement was made at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo, in the presence of the party’s national and state leaders.

Speaking on his decision to switch parties, Adeleke said: “I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago, precisely on November 6th, as a platform to seek re-election in 2026. This was after weeks of consultation and deliberations with stakeholders and opinion leaders.”

He added that the Accord Party’s welfare-focused policies align with his administration’s commitment to citizens and state workers. The governor expressed confidence that the party will secure victory in the August 2026 election.

“I welcome our party leaders into the Osun State Government House. You are now part of us, as I am also now part of you. We are united in progress and good intentions for the good people of Osun State and Nigeria at large,” Adeleke said.

On Wednesday, Adeleke became the Accord Party’s official candidate for the 2026 governorship election after being the sole contestant in the party’s primary at the Oasis Event Centre, Osogbo, where he secured 145 votes.
