The remains of Nigeria’s celebrated music icon, Onyeka Onwenu has been laid to rest in Lagos on Friday
She was 72 years old.
The beautiful lady of songs who was fondly called Elegant Stallion died at a hospital in Lagos after she slumped at the 80th birthday party of Chief Mrs Stella Okoli and was rushed to the clinic for treatment.The mum of two was declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, the funeral service, which held at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos, was witnessed by family members and friends in attendance.
Her remains were interred at a private cemetery
in Ikoyi.
Survived by her sons, the late Onyeka was also a politician, actor and activist.
