Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has shown her support for actor Kamo State’s debut cinema movie, ‘Starlomo’, days after her absence from its Lagos premiere triggered speculation about their relationship.
Kamo State is regarded as one of Akindele’s protégés and has previously spoken highly of his relationship with the filmmaker. In May, he described their bond as a divine blessing and a significant turning point in his career.
Akindele was not present at the Lagos premiere of ‘Starlomo’ on September 20, leading to speculation among social media users that there could be a disagreement between the actress and Kamo.
The actor, however, moved to dismiss the reports, explaining that Akindele was outside the country when the premiere took place.
“I woke up to see different opinions online about Iyamii and myself,” he wrote.
“Please we’re on good terms. She missed my premiere simply because she wasn’t in the country and nothing more to it, so please don’t assume otherwise.”
Akindele has now publicly demonstrated her support for the project, taking to X on Saturday to congratulate Kamo and the film’s director, Kayode Kasum.
She also encouraged her followers to visit cinemas and watch the movie.
“STARLOMO… Let’s go see a good movie this weekend,” she wrote.
“Congratulations @kamo_state @kayodekasum. I wish you all the best at the box office.
“#starlomothemovie is now showing in all cinemas nationwide. Go see it!”

Responding to Akindele’s post, Kamo expressed appreciation for her continued support and affectionately referred to her as his mother figure.
“Iyami Da? Iyami Re ooo, Thank you for supporting me always ma, I’m grateful mama,” he wrote.
‘Starlomo’ opened in cinemas across the country on Friday.
Kamo began his entertainment career as a skit maker alongside his former partner, Ozain, with the comedy duo known as Nepa Boys. He later pursued a solo career before transitioning into acting.
He has featured in several productions, including ‘Warlord,’ ‘Behind The Scenes,’ ‘Abanisete,’ ‘Adunni,’ ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ and ‘Labake Olododo’.
