A tragic accident on Otedola Bridge in Lagos has claimed the life of an unidentified man, while three others sustained injuries of varying degrees.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident on Tuesday.
He disclosed that two of the injured victims were rushed to the hospital for urgent medical care.
The accident occurred during an overnight operation to recover a fallen 40-foot container. According to Oke-Osanyintolu, the otedola bridge accident involved four articulated trucks laden with containers, resulting from reckless driving.
“One adult male extricated from beneath the first accident truck lost his life to the incident,” he stated.
Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu added that immediate medical attention was provided at the scene for the injured victims before they were transported to the Accident and Emergency Centre. The deceased’s body was handed over to the Federal Road Safety Corps.
The accident caused a temporary road closure, but all affected trucks were successfully removed, and vehicular movement has been restored.
